Characterization of sheep meat production chain in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil
Abstract
This study aimed to examine and characterize the sheep meat chain in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, through semi-structured interviews with agents considered experts in the activity, comparing their views on the market, consumer perceptions, marketing, differentiation and future prospects. The results showed some disruption of the organizational chain, due to the difficulty for information flow between agents and productive linkages. However, the market has growth potential, especially directing actions to differentiate and add value, focus on specific markets, responsible marketing and coordination of production processes.
