Abstract

The objective of this experiment was to study the u liza on of ambient forced air on corn seed drying. Silos with 4,200 kg of seeds with moisture content of 17.8 , 18.9 and 20.5 were used. Samples were collected periodically at six internal layers of each silo and analyzed as for moisture content and physiological quality. Drying reduced moisture contents of the seeds to 13.0 , 12.5 and 12.8 , respec vely. In the silo with the moistest seeds, average seed germina on stayed around 85 up to 336 hours of drying and after it decreased to 81 . Vigour lowered from 72 to 59 during the drying period, not being affected by layer height. With 18,9 , germina on and vigour were not affected by the drying me. It can be concluded that ambient forced air with air ow of 4.0 m min ton can be used the Passo Fundo, RS region to dry corn seeds with moisture content up to 19 .
