Chromosomes number and morphology in species of Eriosema (DC.) G Don and Rhynchosia Lour. (Leguminosae) native in south of Brazil

The present study aims at determining thc chromosome number of nine species of the generaEriosemo (DC.) G Don and Rhynchosia Lour. from the south of Brazil and analyzing the karyotype of two Eriosema and two Rhynchosia species. All species were diploid and presentcd 2n=2x=22 chromosome, except for R. edulis, with 2n=2x=20. E tacuaremboense presented a karyotype formula 14m + 8sm, E. campestre 16 m+ 6sm, R. edulis of 16 m + 4sm and R. hauthalii 20m + 2sm. The karyotype of the four species analyzed showcd a tcndency towards symmetry.
