Response of corn to nitrogen fertilization in succession to soil cover in autumn-winter in gleissolo
Abstract
The objective of this work was to determine the effects of autumn-winter soil cover on the response of maize grown in succession in lowland to nitrogenous fertilization in coverage. In Experiment 1, treatments consisted of three systems of soil cover in autumn-winter (cornichão, ryegrass, fallow) and the application of five doses of nitrogen (0, 50, 100, 200, 300 kg ha-1 ) in maize in succession. In Experiment 2, the treatments consisted of two seasons of desiccation of the native serradela and one control, with fallow area during autumn-winter, and four systems of nitrogen fertilization management in cover in maize grown in succession. The management systems consisted of two doses of N in cover (100 and 200 kg ha-1 ), applied at different times. For the two experiments, the experimental design was of randomized blocks, arranged in divided plots, with four replications. Maize in succession to ryegrass produced 7,7 and 11,0% less in relation to succession to the cornichão and fallow. In relation to the autumn-winter fallow, with yield of grains of 8.87 Mg ha-1 , in the average of N management systems, yield of grains grown in succession to the native serradela increased in 12, 6 and 19, 4%, with desiccations carried out at 56 and 14 days before sowing. The agronomic efficiency of N utilization by maize increased with the delay of the native serradela desiccation season and decreased with the increase of the applied N dose.
