Homogeneity of total monthly rainfall in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil
Abstract
Rainfall time series data can sometimes not be consistent. Therefore, in order to avoid
errors, it is important to determine its homogeneity. In this study, we determined the homogeneity of
historical series of total monthly rainfall data recorded at meteorological stations belonging to the 8th
District of Meteorology (8th DISME) and the State Foundation for Agricultural Research (Fepagro),
State of Rio Grande do Sul. This study used data from 41 meteorological stations belonging to the 8th
DISME, from the period of 1912 to 2008 and 22 Fepagro, from 1957 to 2008 period. The homogeneity
was determined using the double-mass technic and the iteration test. It was found that all the time
series of monthly rainfall totals were consistent.
