LED - New light source for multiplication and rooting in vitro of raspberry
Abstract
The aim of this research was to evaluate the use of LEDs in multiplication and rooting of raspberry cultivars Batum and Dorman Red. Buds were multiplied on MS medium supplemented with 30 g L-1 sucrose, 100 mg L-1 myo-inositol, 7 g L-1 agar. After multiplied they were rooted on 1⁄2 MS medium supplemented with 0.1 mg L-1 NAA. In both phases the buds were grown at the temperature of 25 ± 2 oC, 16 h photoperiod and light of 20 mol m-2 s-1 provided by blue LEDs, green LEDs, red LEDs, lamps growlux and lamps flourescent. The experimental was randomized design, and treatments were arranged in 5 x 2 factorial with eight replications. LEDs contribute to increased multiplication and rooting of shoots of cultivars raspberry Batum and Dorman Red. The highest rooting percentages were obtained with Batum (95.9%) and Dorman Red (90 2%) grown under red LEDs, which contributed to the greater length of the rooted shoots. The highest percentage of rooting for Batum (95.9%) and Dorman Red (90.2%) was obtained under red LEDs, as well as the length of the buds rooted. To Batum the largest amount of fresh and dry mass occurred under fluorescent (280.45 mg and 59.20 mg/bud), and Dorman Red was under red LEDs (271.45 and 64.45 mg/bud).
