Foot and mouth disease: occurrence of nodule after application vaccine of according with the route
Abstract
The experiment was conducted to determine the influence of application route on the occurrence of nodule after the vaccine against foot and mouth disease. The vaccinations were accompanied in six dairy farms in the towns of União and Teresina, state of Piauí, and Timon, state of Maranhão, in the period between May and June of 2007. A total of 189 cattle were accompanied. The animals were subjected to two routes of administration of the vaccine, with 85 receiving the vaccine by intramusculary route, being 14 young and 71 adults. The remaining 104 received the vaccine by subcutaneous route, being 34 young and 70 adults. It was found that the animals subjected to the application of the vaccine by subcutaneous route showed greater reaction after the vaccine than the animals subjected to intramusculary, predominantly in adults.
