Editorial Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Pesquisa Agropecuária Gaúcha (PAG) acknowledges the advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and their usefulness in different stages of scientific writing. However, the use of such tools must comply with the principles of transparency, responsibility, confidentiality, and academic integrity.

Permitted use

AI technologies may be used exclusively for translation or proofreading into English, including the improvement of grammar, spelling, and clarity of the English language.

In such cases, authors must declare in the manuscript (in the Acknowledgments or Ethical Statements section) that AI tools were employed to assist in language revision.

Prohibited use (authors)

AI may not be used to replace the authors’ critical analysis, nor to generate ideas, results, interpretations, or scientific conclusions.

Prohibited use (reviewers and editors)

Peer review and editorial evaluation must be conducted by human experts and, therefore, cannot be performed with the assistance of AI.

It is not allowed to upload manuscripts, or parts thereof, into public AI tools for review, translation, or any other purpose, as this may compromise editorial confidentiality and the authors’ copyright.

Authors’ responsibility

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and scientific integrity of the published content, regardless of the use of AI.

Failure to comply with this policy may result in ethical concerns and/or rejection or withdrawal of articles.
