INFLUENCE OF GLYPHOSATE, ALONE OR IN MIXTURE WITH 2,4-D ESTER, ON NATIVE PASTURE SOIL MESOFAUNA WITH NO-TILL SOYBEANS
Abstract
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of the herbicide glyphosate, applied alone or in mixture with 2,4-D ester, on a native pasture soil mesofauna, such as Acari na, Collembola, Coleoptera and Hymenoptera, with no-till soybeans. The experiment was carried out at Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, RS/Brazil, in 1995/96. The following treatments were evaluated: glyphosate at 360, 720 and 1080 g/ha a. e., alone or mixed with 200 g/ha of 2,4-D ester, sprayed in two volumes (50 and 200 1/ha), and an unsprayed control. The results indicate that the mesofauna populations were not affected by the use of glyphosate at all doses, alone or in mixture with 2,4-D, although a decrease in the populations was observed due to a drought period after the treatments.
