Abstract

Seeds of high physiological provide rapid seedling emergence and higher initial growth, reflected in higher final yield. This study aimed to evaluate the physiological quality of seeds of three hybrids of maize AS 3466, DKB 979 and SH 5090 obtained from the two origins (Seed Troca-Troca system and commercial establishments) by laboratory tests (% germination, MV, MS, cold test, electrical conductivity and potassium leaching) and field (% emergence, ESI, MS, MV at 28 DAS). The experiment was conducted during October and November 2010 in the seed laboratory and in experimental area of the Higher Education Center north of RS. The results showed that all hybrids showed good phy- siological quality, regardless of source, so it is not possible in this case, indicate what is the best source.
