Abstract

This study had as its objective to determine the influence of the period of execution of the dry pruning and the carrying out of the green pruning on the production and quality of the 'Bordô' grape (Vitisla brusca) and 'BRS Violeta' (Hibrid) under climatic conditions in the mesorregion of Pelotas/RS. For this task, two periods of dry pruning were carried out in part of the vineyards when the grapes found themselves in the chumbinho stage. During the harvest there was an evaluation of the production per plant, the mass of the clusters, the number of clusters per plant, the average number of grapes per cluster and the rate of soluble solids. The dry pruning when performed at the normal time without peeling reduces the weight of the bunches when performed late now favors the increase in the number of berries per cluster in 'Claret' and reduces under BRS Violet '. The realization of the dry season on the accumulation of soluble solids pruning differed only in that the defoliation treatment was performed, being greater in the later period. Defoliation favors the increase of soluble solids in the late period with no differences for the normal season. Defoliation increased the weight of bunches under cultivation and Claret no difference to the BRS Violet.
